In Kenya, EPI and Kenyan scientists collaborate to reveal the risk factors of Rift Valley fever virus infections among herders. This zoonotic disease, with its flu-like symptoms, is capable of spreading to herders from the livestock they handle. The virus is transmitted to livestock, most commonly sheep and goats, through mosquito bites.
