Florida International Summit 2014
On February 12, 2014, the Florida International Summit Global Health and Medical Diplomacy: Haiti and Florida took place at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. The event was co-hosted by the University of North Florida and the University of Florida. The conference, which is sponsored by Florida Network for Global Studies, gave Floridians an opportunity to better understand the medical, health and socioeconomic challenges that Haiti continues to encounter. More than 140 participants attended the conference.
In addition, the summit provided a forum for Florida and Haiti’s key players from health departments, State, NGOs, academia, development and economic agencies to discuss and exchange information that fosters activities to continue strengthening the expertise and interest related to medical diplomacy issues post 2010 earthquake. Participants had an opportunity to learn about current and innovative initiatives, including UF Haiti research lab, and ponder on challenges and opportunities for future development in Haiti.
